Walgreens Prescription Savings Club

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walgreens for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Express Scripts acts as a middleman between pharmacies providing the health care service and employers and health plans who pay for the medications.  Walgreens and Express Scripts failed to renegotiate their contract, and as of January 1, 2012 Walgreens pharmacies nationwide are no longer a part of Express Scripts’ pharmacy provider network. This is forcing customers of the Walgreens pharmacies to go elsewhere to use their in-network pharmacy benefits.

You may be affected by this change if you are a part of an Express Script prescription insurance plan. Patients can check the backs of their prescription insurance cards to see if they will be affected. Just look for the Express Scripts name or you can check with your local Walgreens pharmacist.

Walgreens, however, is taking steps to minimize the disruption for their customers by offering a special discount on the annual membership for theWalgreens and Express Script Walgreens Prescription Savings Club. Right now, during this January promotion, an individual can join for only $5 ($20 regular) and a family membership which includes everyone in your immediate family, including a spouse, dependents 22 and younger and pets is only $10 ($35 regular).
