So, after Day 1 & Day 2 of our Staycation, I left you guys hanging on where we were on Day 3. Well, having lots of fun of course!
First stop on Day 3 was the movies!!! We finally got a chance to watch BRAVE!! Great movie by the way, and a perfect Staycation outing.
Next stop…The Courtyard by Marriott!! Pool Time!! A few nights in a local hotel is a great addition to any staycation. This is the point where mom and dad really feel like they were able to “get away” for a few days, and what kid does not like a hotel stay…right?
I got a shot of my crew in the pool from our balcony…
We chose the Courtyard for several reasons. One, it’s in a great location to other things we had planned for the days we’d be staying. Two, the Pool….or should I say the two pools…are just awesome! There is an outdoor pool with a beautiful patio as well as an indoor pool…both with hot tubs. The indoor pool is a great option for those afternoon showers that we are bound to get here in South Louisiana on any given day.
This really is a beautiful hotel, and I’d recommend it for anyone enjoying a staycation or looking for a weekend getaway. We had a beautiful super clean room with lots of space for the kids to move around along with a balcony overlooking the pool…NICE!
I can’t say enough about this hotel and their staff. The entire hotel is well kept…clean.clean.clean. When I entered the room CLEAN and FRESH is first thing that came to mind. And I can not go any further without mentioning the beds and pillows….I don’t think I have ever stayed in a hotel where I wished I could pack the bed and pillows with me and take them home. (in fact I really want to know where I can buy some of those pillows…I slept soooooo good) Here’s a look at our room…
Nice…huh? While Courtyard’s can be found all over the country, and I highly recommend you check out one near you, if you are local to the Houma area here are a few more features found at this Courtyard. I already mentioned the 2 pools, but there is also a ‘pool bar’ that opens in the summer. There is also music/live entertainment on Wednesdays as well as a “Mixed Grill” night that includes steak/seafood. We checked in on Wednesday evening, so we actually got to listen to some of the live music. Hubby and I would have really enjoyed this, but of course the kiddos were eager to Get. In. The. Pool. (did I mention how much we loved the pool?)
There is also a full bar/lounge to relax in and they have the most state-of-the-art fitness facilities around. (After all I had eaten so far that week, I probably should have done more than just look through the window…lol)
The staff is pretty awesome too!! So I must say thanks for making our staycation a whole lot more fun! We really enjoyed making the Courtyard by Marriott our home away from home for a couple nights. (I still need to find out where to get those pillows!)
We headed out for lunch on Day 4 to enjoy some delicious cajun cuisine at none other than the restaurant hubby and I had our first date. (It was another restaurant back then…all those years ago…but the food…YUM!) I had seafood gumbo and potato salad and hubby had an oyster po-boy…sorry no pics…I didn’t want to tease you too much!! And it just wouldn’t have been in staycation style had the kids not taken a picture with the alligator.
Now for Day 5 of our Staycation, baseball was on the schedule! We were suppose to be headed to a Zephyr’s baseball game, BUT we ended up watching softball instead. Due to horrible weather we’d had the week before, my daughter’s softball tournament was cancelled and had to be rescheduled. And what fun…my daughter’s team ended up winning the whole tournament, so all was good! Go Black Cats!!
And now we have an excuse for another family night out to catch a Zephyr’s baseball game along with their famous Friday night fireworks show!!!
I hope you guys enjoyed following my family our staycation, but most importantly, I hope we inspired you to plan a successful staycation in your own hometown!!
I was given a discounted rate for my stay at the Courtyard by Marriott in exchange for my review post; however, all opinions expressed are 100% my own.
