Pine Cone Bird Feeders & An Afternoon Of Fun!

February 1, 2012 By Tracy

The kids and I had such a great time yesterday afternoon, making these homemade Pine Cone Bird Feeders!! I would definitely recommended doing this project outdoors, so the birds can just clean up the mess when you are done. Because trust me…there will be bird seeds EVERYWHERE!!!

Here’s what you’ll need:

Pine Cones

Fishing Twine or Yarn

Scissors

Paper Plates

Butter Knife or Spoon

Peanut Butter

Bird Seeds

After your child has selected a pine cone of their liking, tie a piece of fishing twine or yarn around one of the ends, for hanging. Then, have them spread the peanut butter all over the pine cone. Will this be messy? YES! Just keep an eye out for the little ones who’ll want to lick their fingers…lol! Next, roll the pine cone in the bird seeds. Finally, hang in your favorite tree, and watch the birds enjoy this special treat!
