Important Reminder: Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC)

February 7, 2012 By Tracy

This morning, I learned of a fellow blogger’s passing.  I had not read her blog before this morning, but her story touched me deeply. Susan Niebur, of Toddler Planet passed away yesterday of Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC). 9 1/2 years ago, I lost my mother-in-law to the same horrible disease. One, that at the time, I had never heard of. You see while it is so important to do your monthly self breast exams, it is also very important to be aware of any changes to your breasts. Inflammatory Breast Cancer is a very rare and aggressive form of breast cancer that does not present it self with a lump.  Because IBC forms in thin sheets and not lumps, it is often not detectable through mammograms or ultrasounds. I have more information here, along with links to a few websites so that you can educate yourself on this form of breast cancer. And please keep Susan’s family in your prayers.
